چکیده

IGR J18483-0311 was discovered with INTEGRAL in 2003 and later classified as a supergiant fast X-ray transient. It was observed in outburst many times, but its quiescent state is still poorly known. Here we present the results of XMM-Newton, Swift, and Chandra observations of IGR J18483-0311. These data improved the X-ray position of the source, and provided new information on the timing and spectral properties of IGR J18483-0311 in quiescence. We report the detection of pulsations in the quiescent X-ray emission of this source, and give for the first time a measurement of the spin-period derivative of this source. In IGR J18483-0311 the measured spin-period derivative of -(1.3±0.3)×10 s s likely results from light travel time effects in the binary. We compare the most recent observational results of IGR J184830311 and SAX J1818.6-1703, the two supergiant fast X-ray transients for which a similar orbital period has been measured.

Swift observations of IGR J 16479 - 4514 in outburst ( Research Note )

Aims. The supergiant fast X-ray transient source IGR J16479-4514 was observed in outburst two times with Swift. Its quiescent state was investigated in-depth only once in 2008 through a relatively long pointed observation with XMM-Newton. The latter observation was taken about 1.7 days after the outburst in 2008, and showed an X-ray eclipse-like event, likely caused by the supergiant companion....

IGR J 16479 - 4514 : the first eclipsing supergiant fast X - ray transient ?

Supergiant fast X-ray transients are a new class of high mass X-ray binaries recently discovered with INTEGRAL. Hours long outbursts from these sources have been observed on numerous occasions at luminosities of ∼10-10 erg s, whereas their low level activity at∼10-10 erg s has not been deeply investigated yet due to the paucity of long pointed observations with high sensitivity X-ray telescopes...

The First X-ray Eclipse of Igr J16479-4514?

We report on the first long (∼32 ks) pointed XMM-Newton observation of the supergiant fast X-ray transient IGR J16479-4514. Results from the timing, spectral and spatial analysis of this observation show that the X-ray source IGR J16479-4514 underwent an episode of sudden obscuration, possibly an X-ray eclipse by the supergiant companion. We also found evidence for a soft X-ray extended halo ar...

Swift / XRT observes the fifth outburst of the periodic Supergiant Fast X – ray Transient IGR J 11215 – 5952

Context. IGR J11215-5952 is a hard X–ray transient source discovered in April 2005 with INTEGRAL and a confirmed member of the new class of High Mass X–ray Binaries, the Supergiant Fast X–ray Transients (SFXTs). Archival INTEGRAL data and RXTE observations showed that the outbursts occur with a periodicity of ∼330 days. Thus, IGR J11215–5952 is the first SFXT displaying periodic outbursts, poss...

A Bepposax-wfc Viewpoint of New Integral Sources, Particularly Igr J17544-2619

Of the 21 new sources that INTEGRAL discovered up to Feb. 1, 2004, 5 were detected with the BeppoSAX Wide Field Cameras at earlier times. IGR J16320-4751 appears to be a persistently active X-ray source which hints at a supergiant Roche-lobe overflowing companion star in this proposed highmass X-ray binary. IGR J17091-3624 is a transient source that was detected in 1996 and 2001 with a maximum ...
